Yesterday, Prince died and the world stopped. Four decades of influence from the Purple Rain mastermind began impacting fans and admirers instantly, and quite frankly, it’s too much to bear. The Obama administration should have cancelled today. Not work or school, but the actual day. April 22, 2016 shouldn’t exist on a calendar in the future. It should just be a purple square. Try again next year.
We’ve seen an outpouring of support and tributes from artists across all genres, and Game is the latest Prince fan to deliver his own tribute, in the form of a new song, “Rest In Purple,” featuring Lorine Chia, produced by Bongo By The Way. Game announced the new release on Instagram, where he remembers meeting prince at Universal Music in 2006 and briefly describes how quickly the tribute song came together. You can listen to it below.
