Cleveland is still turnt after last night's historical NBA Finals performance by LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, an unlikely win that ended the city's 52-year title drought. But LeBron James is not the only one looking to represent for the too-oft overlooked city. Coming out of one of the roughest neighborhoods in Cleveland is budding rapper Ripp Flamez, who was named Best New Artist in the Ohio Hip-Hop Awards last year. And today, he is premiering the video for his new single "Shine Light," which is like a warning shot ahead of his inevitable rise to prominence. On "Shine Light," the Cleveland rapper explores the struggles he has faced in being omitted from the spotlight and the hardships he experienced coming from the Garden Valley Housing Projects on the northside of Cleveland over a head-bobbing, catchy hip-hop beat produced by fellow Cleveland natives Clockwork Muzik and Givtyd. The video features Flamez asserting his bravado presence in a torture room scene, taunting all those who doubted him. Ripp Flamez’s new tape DayOne Forever is releasing in July.
