Kipp Stone is no stranger to power moves. He hops on the official remix to Niia's "Hurt You." This was released as an exclusive via XXL. You can read their write up below the track.
Kipp Stone hops on Niia’s “Hurt You “First” for the remix. Niia is a promising singer from L.A. who originally released “Hurt You First” back in February. The song is off Niia’s long-awaited debut album, I, which drops on May 5 via Atlantic Records. Kipp adds a nice element to Niia’s soulful sound. Robin Hannibal, who’s produced for Rhye, Kendrick Lamar, INTERNET and Chairlift, produced the track. “I wrote ‘Hurt You First’ when I was falling in love and everything seemed too good to be true,” Niia tells XXL. “Sometimes sabotaging a relationship and hurting someone first seems safer than waiting and worrying they might hurt you. I really like Kipp’s lyrics and tone. I thought it would add another dimension hearing from the person on the other side of the relationship. He calls me out for my mind games. He’s a smooth operator. I have a new song coming out called ‘Nobody’ that is kind of a prequel to ‘Hurt You First.’ It tells the story how I met someone one night and I knew he was the one.” The song is beautiful and the combination of their two sounds make it a banger. Kipp Stone recently lent his talents to Marvel for a tribute to King T’Challa for his last track “100 Black Panthers.” Last year, XXL spoke with Kipp about his aspirations in the rap game, and his latest track appears to be a step in the direction he wants to go.
