This mural is the latest in a series of Community Engagement Murals that Sankofa Fine Arts Plus has been producing since 2015. These murals are all over town and are designed and created with the collaboration of the community where they are installed.

According to artist Robin Robinson, “We never enter a mural project with a predetermined concept or theme. Everything comes from the community discussions and their commitment to providing their own voices to the walls they live with.”

Sankofa artists, Gary Williams and Robin Robinson are both award winning artists and community activists. They are the team that also created the “Our Lives Matter” mural on E.105th St. in Glenville.

Sankofa Fine Arts Plus is a non-profit art organization founded in 1999 with the mission of advancing African American arts and artists in Northeast Ohio. It is committed to bringing art with positive messages to the City’s streetscapes and public spaces for the purpose of instilling a sense of pride and empowerment in those communities.

This mural was made possible because of the collaboration with The Glenville Boys and Girls Club, The CPD Black Shield Club and many community volunteers. Funding was provided by Ohio Arts Council, Famico Foundation and Cuyahoga Arts and Culture.
