Back in September, we fell in love with DJ Corey Grand. There’s something about that space-y take on chilled hip-hop that resonates with a lot of what we do here at DAD. Dude’s rise through the scene has been similar to many of ours, too. Born and raised in Cleveland, OH, Corey Grand became a DJ who took more of a turntablist focus in his adventures, leading to placing pretty high in a number of competitions, including the Red Bull Thre3Style. His influences include A-Trak, Flying Lotus, and Nosaj Thing, so his marrying of electronic textures with a hip-hop aesthetic is on point, and is put on display in his DAD Mix, which finds him mixing some of his own remixes and originals (including his October 2014 Long Division-released album Bathed In Light), as well as material from Kaytranada, Hudson Mohawke,SBTRKT, and plenty others.
